About this service

FindALocum operates findalocum.co.uk and this recruitment enquiry service. You can contact us through the contact form. These website terms are separate from the terms agreed for an individual booking.

Business address: Queen Street Chambers, 68 Queen Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S1 1WR.

Sending an enquiry

You can register for GP, pharmacist, pharmacy technician or practice nurse work, request a locum, or ask a question. Provide accurate information and tell us if relevant details change. Do not send another person’s sensitive information without an appropriate basis.

A receipt confirms that your enquiry has been saved. It does not create a booking or employment relationship, or guarantee work or cover. Bookings depend on availability, suitability, checks and agreement.

Booking fee and other costs

The booking fee is £19.99 + VAT per locum, per booked calendar day worked, for GP, pharmacist, pharmacy technician and practice nurse engagements. The same daily fee applies to a part-day. Two locums working on the same date count as two locum days. VAT is additional when applicable. There is no monthly subscription and no fee for clinicians to register or receive work-finding services.

The hiring practice or organisation contracts with the locum and pays their agreed remuneration and expenses directly. It pays FindALocum’s booking fee separately. FindALocum does not operate payroll or collect locum pay under this arrangement. The engagement must record who is responsible for payment, its timing and any applicable deductions; the website does not determine a locum’s employment or tax status.

The written hirer terms must explain which engagements and repeat bookings attract the booking fee before an introduction is made. Sending an enquiry does not accept a repeat-engagement charge, transfer fee or cancellation charge. The enquiry form does not collect payment.

Terms before work finding or placement

Our stated model is an introduction service: the hiring organisation engages and pays the locum directly. The hirer agreement and the practice–locum engagement must identify their actual contracting parties and responsibilities. Introducing a clinician does not remove FindALocum’s own recruitment duties.

Any change to supplying or engaging workers through FindALocum needs the appropriate terms and procedures first. Where employment-business rules apply, work-seeker terms must be agreed before work finding begins, with any required key information document provided at the proper earlier stage. A later booking confirmation does not replace those requirements. These website terms cover the site and initial enquiries; the applicable recruitment and engagement agreements are separate.

Before a booking is confirmed

The contracting parties, responsibilities, required checks, setting, work mode, location, dates, hours, pay, expenses, payment arrangements and cancellation terms must be agreed in writing. Sending a form does not authorise us to accept work or book a locum on your behalf.

Hiring organisations must describe the role accurately and provide suitable working, access and induction arrangements. Locums must meet the registration requirements that apply to their profession and country, and work within their competence and applicable professional obligations. FindALocum and each party retain their own applicable legal duties; agreeing practical responsibilities does not remove them.

Right to work checks for locums

FindALocum keeps a register of locums, matches them with practices online and charges a fee for each match. Under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, as amended from 1 October 2026, that makes us responsible for checking that each locum we match has the right to work in the UK.

You must prove your right to work using a method we accept before we introduce you or you can be booked. If your permission to work ends on a set date, you must give us new evidence before that date. You cannot be booked for work after it ends until we have checked you again. Tell us straight away if your permission to work ends, changes or is cut short, or if a condition is added that affects the work you can do.

Right to work terms for locum companies

This section applies if you provide your services through a company, partnership or other business (the “service provider”) rather than as an individual. It forms part of our agreement with the service provider, and the service provider accepts it before any work arranged through FindALocum begins.

(a) Right to work checks. The service provider must carry out a prescribed right to work check, as set out in Home Office guidance, on every individual it employs or engages to carry out work arranged through FindALocum, before that individual starts. It must also carry out any follow-up checks the guidance requires.

(b) No subcontracting or substitution. The service provider must not subcontract the work, or send anyone other than the locum we matched, without our prior written consent. If we consent, the service provider must make sure the subcontract contains right to work obligations equivalent to those in this section.

(c) Identity. Only the individual whose right to work has been checked may carry out the work. We or the practice may ask that individual to confirm their identity before or during a booking, and the service provider must make sure they do.

(d) Audit. We may audit the service provider’s compliance with this section. On request, the service provider must give us copies of its right to work checks and the records it relies on within five working days.

(e) Enforcement. If we find, or have reasonable cause to believe, that an individual is working illegally through the service provider without a prescribed right to work check, we may suspend or end the service provider’s account and any bookings arranged through FindALocum immediately. The service provider must have equivalent rights in its own contract with the individual who carries out the work.

(f) Home Office investigations. The service provider must co-operate with any Home Office investigation into illegal working connected with work arranged through FindALocum. That includes providing information about the purpose and make-up of the chain of contracts through which the work is provided; details of each business involved, including its official name, company type, registered address or principal place of business and company registration number where it has one; and any other information the Home Office considers is, or may be, relevant.

Availability and service scope

Current services accept GP, clinical pharmacist, pharmacy technician and practice nurse enquiries for general practice, alongside community and hospital pharmacy work. Roles may be on site, remote or hybrid where suitable for the agreed duties. We cannot guarantee emergency cover or a minimum number of shifts. We do not promise a particular response time for recruitment enquiries; this does not affect applicable deadlines for data-protection complaints and information-rights requests.

Website information and use

Guides and calculations provide general information. Check current official guidance and the circumstances of your work before making a legal, financial, regulatory or clinical decision. External organisations are responsible for the content on their own websites.

Do not send spam, attempt unauthorised access or submit malicious content. Use the contact form to report an error or concern. These terms do not exclude rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
