For GP practices and PCNs
Locum clinical pharmacists for your practice
Request clinical pharmacist cover for your practice or PCN. Tell us the medicines work you need covered and whether sessions are on-site, remote or hybrid.

Define the medicines work
List consultations, administration, reconciliation, prescribing or improvement work, with the workload and time available. For absence cover, identify which responsibilities the locum takes on and which remain with your team.
Specify experience and support
Name the clinical systems, patient groups and primary care experience required, plus a contact for clinical input. Spell out any prescribing duties. An independent prescriber will be suited to some prescribing tasks and not others.
Plan cover across your PCN
List each practice, system and working location. Explain how tasks are allocated and who resolves conflicting priorities. Agree access and supervision before the start date.
Check training and funding conditions separately. Asking us for cover has no bearing on ARRS reimbursement or eligibility for a training pathway.

Booking
From request to confirmed booking
Post the shift, review applicants and agree terms in writing. Every step is recorded for you and the locum.
Register your practiceSeparate a mixed workload
Describe a patient consultation session and a reconciliation session separately, with the time, systems and support for each. This helps assess whether one pharmacist and working arrangement suit both.
Professional requirements for the role
Check GPhC registration in Great Britain or PSNI registration in Northern Ireland. Verify prescribing status when required.
Describe the actual medicines workload, relevant experience and supervision arrangements. Someone with a community pharmacy background or a prescribing qualification may still need support with some general practice work. Check any applicable training and funding requirements separately.
State the country where the service is delivered. Onboarding, local service requirements and any funding conditions need checking for that assignment.

Is this cover for GP doctors?
This page is for clinical pharmacists in general practice. If you need a doctor to cover GP sessions, use our locum GP pages and select GP in the cover request.
Can one pharmacist support several practices?
Include every practice and system in the brief. Suitability depends on the workload, access, travel or remote arrangements and available support. A shared PCN booking needs clear priorities and responsibility for handover.
How much is the booking fee?
£19.99 + VAT per locum for each calendar day worked, including a part-day. Prices exclude VAT. The practice contracts with and pays the locum directly, including agreed expenses, separately from our fee. The same fee applies to GP, pharmacist, pharmacy technician and nursing cover.
