The animation lists GP, clinical pharmacist, pharmacy technician and practice nurse options, then shows an example GP choosing hybrid work and Tuesday and Wednesday availability before registering free. For practices and PCNs

Start with the work you need covered

A good brief sets out the duties, dates, experience needed and local support. Choose a role below to see what to include; if you need more than one profession, send a separate enquiry for each.

Choose the arrangement around the duties

Location is part of the role brief. It affects patient access, facilities, induction and the support available during a session.

On-site
For work in the surgery, specify the actual clinic or task list, practice address, facilities and team support. Hands-on nursing procedures and work requiring physical attendance need an appropriate on-site arrangement.
Remote
Define work suitable for remote delivery, individual records access, approved communication tools and a local route for further assessment or support. A remote label does not make every task suitable or mean the person can work from any country.
Hybrid
Agree which sessions are remote and which take place at the practice. Include induction, travel and handover, especially when the booking covers more than one surgery or clinical system.

For practices

From request to confirmed booking

Post the shift, review checked locums who apply and agree terms in writing. Every step is recorded for you and the locum.

Register your practice

Make the first enquiry useful

Practices: include dates, hours, country, sites, duties, systems, required experience and the support available. State the proposed pay separately from the booking fee.

Locums: include your profession, relevant recent work, availability, preferred locations and working arrangement. Be clear about the duties you can undertake and any induction or support needed.

Use the role links above to carry that context into the form. Keep patient information and identity documents out of an initial enquiry.

General practice locum questions

Which professionals can I request for a GP practice?

You can enquire about GP doctors, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and practice nurses. Each carries different responsibilities, so describe the work and the skills it needs.

Can the same service include remote and on-site work?

Yes, you can describe a hybrid arrangement. State the on-site days, locations and remote duties. The particular work, access, professional requirements and support need to fit the arrangement before it is agreed.

Are there confirmed vacancies for every role?

Availability changes and a published search may have no matching vacancies. These pages help practices make a specific request and locums register their experience and availability. Neither action guarantees a booking.

Is it free to register and find work?

Yes. GPs, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and practice nurses pay no registration or work-finding fees. You choose which assignments to accept and agree your pay and terms directly with the hiring organisation.
