How to book a locum
Send your requirements, discuss suitable availability and confirm the details. Your organisation contracts with and pays the locum directly; our booking fee is separate.
A proposed GP booking progresses through reviewing the work, agreeing direct terms, completing required booking checks and confirmation by both parties. An enquiry does not confirm a booking.

Send the duties, workplace, dates, hours, experience and systems required. For remote or hybrid work, include access and attendance needs.
Discuss availability and pay
Review suitable availability and agree the locum’s rate and expenses. Our booking fee is £19.99 + VAT per locum, per day worked.
Complete checks and confirm
Complete the required checks and agree written terms. Arrange induction, authorised access and a named contact for support, supervision, escalation and handover as relevant.
For GPs, pharmacists, technicians and practice nurses
Registration and work-finding are free. You choose which assignments to accept.
Share your availability
Tell us your experience, preferred days, locations and working arrangement. Registration does not guarantee work.
Review the proposed work
Check the duties, hours, breaks, support and competencies required. Discuss pay, expenses and terms before accepting.
Prepare for the booking
Supply the agreed evidence securely. Keep your confirmation and check induction, arrival or remote access, and whom to contact.
Before a booking is confirmed
An enquiry provides a reference; it does not reserve a locum, accept an assignment or authorise payment.
Record the agreed duties, location, working arrangement, dates, hours, breaks, pay, expenses, payment and cancellation terms. Agree FindALocum’s separate introduction terms and fee before we undertake work-finding services.
Each party keeps its own legal duties. The checks depend on the profession, the country and the work, and being registered is only one part of being suitable. Our checks and responsibilities page explains more.
If your plans change
Contact us promptly with your reference. Cancellations follow the agreed terms, and an enquiry that never became a booking carries no cancellation charge.
