About the role

We’re hiring a Recruitment & Operations Manager to run the day-to-day work behind FindALocum: checking locums, approving practices, filling shifts and looking after the people who use the service.

You’ll lead our Locum Recruitment Coordinator, Compliance Administrator and Customer Support Administrator, set the standards they work to and report on how the service is performing. It’s a hands-on role in a small team, so on busy days you’ll pick up checks, calls and bookings yourself.

What you’ll do

  • Lead, train and support the recruitment, compliance and customer support team, including rotas, one-to-ones and cover for leave.
  • Make sure every locum is checked before they can be booked: professional registration, right to work, indemnity and documents.
  • Oversee practice approvals and keep our records of checks and bookings complete and up to date.
  • Track how quickly shifts are filled, which ones go unfilled and why, and act on what you find.
  • Handle escalated complaints and concerns from practices and locums, and share what the team can learn from them.
  • Keep our processes in line with the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, data protection law and right-to-work rules, with outside advice where needed.
  • Write and update the team’s working procedures and help shape the staff tools in our admin portal.
  • Report each week on bookings, fill rates, check times and support requests.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience managing a team in recruitment, staffing, healthcare operations or a similar service business.
  • A working knowledge of pre-employment checks, such as professional registration, right to work, references and DBS.
  • Good judgement with sensitive information, and the confidence to hold a booking until its checks are complete.
  • Clear, calm communication with clinicians, practice managers and colleagues.
  • Comfort with spreadsheets and simple reports, and an eye for trends in the numbers.
  • Strong organisation, with the ability to keep several urgent tasks moving at once.

Useful but not essential

  • Experience of locum or healthcare staffing, especially in general practice or pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of the GMC, GPhC, NMC and PSNI registers.
  • Experience improving processes or introducing new software.

What we offer

  • £40,000 to £46,000 a year, depending on experience
  • Permanent, full-time: 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday
  • Based at our Leeds head office: West Court Offices, Park Lane, Allerton Bywater, WF10 2FY
  • 28 days’ paid holiday, including bank holidays
  • Workplace pension
  • Full training on our systems, checks and processes
